Dawna was born in Edmonton and moved to Peachland in 2007.  She recently joined the Peachland Wellness Board as the treasurer.  She worked with a chartered accountant in Edmonton as an accounting technician and raised her family in the Edmonton area.  The move to the Okanagan was a retirement plan but it was not long before she found a couple of part-time jobs that fit with her experience.  Dawna plays on a spring softball team, enjoys yoga and dabbles in pottery.

Bill now a Director on PWC and the new senior’s housing.

Janet Hornseth

My name is Janet Hornseth and I am the Gallery Coordinator for the Peachland Art Gallery. I moved to Peachland in 1984 with my husband Stewart Kerr. We raised our two beautiful daughters in Peachland and are extremely fortunate to have our youngest daughter April with our son-in-law Kale living 5 minutes away with 3 of our grandchildren. Our oldest daughter Brydie lives in Calgary and she and her husband Russ have given us 2 wonderful grandsons who eagerly look forward to their summer visits to Peachland. I have always been an advocate of giving back to the community and to that end, coached ball, was a Brownie leader and actively involved in the schools while our daughters were growing up.

I have been a volunteer driver with the Wellness Centre for 5 years. This is a program I identify with as a result of my own mother ageing in Saskatoon and dependant on taxicabs at times to get her to appointments. I was asked to join the Board a year ago and am honoured to be part of such a vibrant organization that provides so many valuable programs for our community.

Tracey Woodward

Tracey was born and raised in the North East of England and lived there until her mid 30’s when she and her family emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Working in the newspaper business most of her life she worked for the Winnipeg Free Press for 15 years before semi-retiring to beautiful Peachland.

Now employed part-time by the Peachland View she wanted to give back to the community she instantly fell in love with by volunteering, so through her work for the paper, she was drawn to the Wellness centre. Tracey and husband Ian enjoy cycling, hiking, travel and the odd Okanagan winery.  “ Of all the things I am most proud of are my two daughters Becky and Annie, one is studying law in the UK and the other is a social worker in Winnipeg”.

Nancy Philpott

I was born and grew up in Toronto, Ontario.  After raising two amazing daughters, my husband and I moved to Peachland in 2016.  In 2018, after spending over 40 years in the Advertising and Television Research Industry, I officially retired.  With my free time I am now actively involved in both the Peachland Friendship Club and the Peachland Wellness Centre.  In our spare time you will see us on the hiking trails, lake and beautiful boardwalk in Peachland....

Christina MacMaster

Executive Coordinator

I have worked in the not-for-profit sector for many years (100 or so), in various roles and in many capacities including that of a volunteer. As a Manager in not-for-profit, my work has taken me from that of a small organization with a staff of 3 to work within a large national organization with branch offices throughout the country. I thrive on variety, enjoy being busy and active and believe in the value of community. I joined the PWC in 2014 and have enjoyed the evolution and changes of this great organization.  My role as Executive Coordinator provides the opportunity to be a part of helping others in my community, and allows me the chance to embrace and enjoy all that I believe in. I feel very fortunate and grateful to be able to live and work in a community I love and choose to be a part of.

Sherry Kendrick

Administration Coordinator

Sherry joined the PWC in 2010 as an office volunteer and facilitator for the Sunshine Singers and Intergenerational Choir.  In 2011 she started working part-time to allow other staff to take vacation time.  In 2014 Sherry began the job share position of Administration and Programs Coordinator. In this role her responsibility is to participate in the delivery of programs and services, by providing various types of support to PWC staff and volunteers. She very much enjoys working at the PWC helping others.

Bea Castellanos

Administration Coordinator

I started working at the PWC in 2017. I am from Colombia and speak Spanish/English.

My experience is enhanced by a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and working within multinational companies during previous years. In the role of Administrative Support Coordinator, my responsibility is to participate in the delivery of programs and services, by providing various types of support to PWC staff and volunteers.

Teri Pentland

Services Coordinator

I began my role in 2017 after 4 years as a volunteer. My background is in healthcare/nursing with a focus on seniors’ health and wellness.  My love of learning led me to redefine myself after my first “retirement” into someone who is embracing ageing gracefully and supporting others to do the same.  Family, friends, balance and flexibility are my focus for this stage of my life and the PWC embodies it all.

Bev Andrews

Volunteer Coordinator

I was born and raised in the beautiful community of Peachland.  I have been a volunteer with the East Kootenay Regional Hospital for 2 years, Emergency Services volunteer for 5 years, and with the Peachland Wellness Centre for 1.5 years.

My role as Volunteer Coordinator will be challenging and rewarding.  My time with the Peachland Wellness Centre has provided me with knowledge and education of a “non-profit” society.  The PWC also provided me with the opportunity to take the “Overview of Volunteer Management” training through Kelowna Community Resources.  I love the people and the vision of the Peachland Wellness Centre and hope I can help keep that vision alive.

My role will include various duties which I feel I am ready to take on.  I want to continue to help and support the Community, the Peachland Wellness Centre, the Staff and Board members.

Linda Whittome

Adult Day Servces Coordinator & Services Coordinator

Linda, originally from Winnipeg, lived for many years in the Lower Mainland before moving to Peachland 15 years ago. Linda comes with a background in Health Care and says, “I’m forever grateful to have met so many interesting people along the way.” Over the past few years, Linda worked at a facility in Summerland in programs and recreation where she was surrounded by people, she genuinely adored and now says she is very happy to be working at PWC.

Linda will be working together as a Services Coordinator in a job share position with Teri Pentland. By sharing this part time position, the community benefits from the amazing skills and talents they both bring.

Margaret Pieczarka

Adult Day Service Coordinator

Margaret was born in Poland and spent most of her early life there with her family before deciding to move to Canada in 1980. This had always been her biggest dream as a little girl and it finally came true!

Margaret always enjoyed working with elderly so after finishing her studies she worked in various hospitals, long term care facilities, group homes and medical clinics.

Margaret says “Coordinating activities through the Adult Day Service truly improves, stimulates, and enriches our resident’s lives. I care about their wellbeing and their social, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. I would like to continue providing quality services and activities so the residents in our community stay healthy, maintain independence, autonomy and continue to live fulfilling and enriched lives.”

Abby Kendall

Program Coordinator

Abby moved to Peachland in 2015 and has been actively involved as a volunteer, a group fitness instructor and as a Board Member of the Peachland and District Retirement Society (PDRS 50+ Activity Centre). She comes with a background in Physical Education and has a passion for health, fitness and wellness and became a certified Personal Trainer, Health Coach, and Senior Fitness and Cancer Exercise Specialist. She is really excited to be part of the PWC team as the Program Coordinator, a function that was until now was coordinated by the Administration Coordinators. By having this new part time position dedicated exclusively to PWC Programs, will allow the focus on improving the programs that PWC offers in order to reach the goals and ensure PWC meets the needs of the community.
